ROYAL
CIRCLE FOUNDATION CONTINUES YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION INITIATIVE IN BALTIMORE, MD
On April 29, 2008, the Royal
Circle Foundation, Inc. launched the Baltimore Youth Violence Prevention Intiative's Young Ambassador's Program. The program
continues in 2012.
The program targets inner city "at risk" youth ages 12-16 and is designed to offer
a new model for primary prevention aimed at providing selected young people with culturally enriching experiences and those
that foster postive self-confidence and esteem.
The "Youth Ambassadors" are involved in a project that
pairs them with their counterparts in the West African Country of Ghana and will provide them with an enriching cultural experience
where tradition and respect are the order of the day.
They participate in a community project, share experiences
with the young people of Ghana, and tour the country learing about its rich culture. The Foundation is currently accepting
applications for 2011 - 2012 period. This will occur over a two week period during the summer season so as not to
interfere with their regular school year programs.
"Youth Ambassadors" are honored at an awards luncheon
and make a formal presentations of their experiences to the Baltimore community at large in the spring following their cultural
exchange.
Applications are currently being accepted for this program and the final deadline date for receipt of
all applications is December 31, 2011.
The Selection Committee will reveiew all applications received and
make their finaly decision by February 10, 2012 notifying the winners and their families by the 15th of the same month.
Family and student orientation for those selected will begin during the last week of April and again in May
before they depart for the summer providing the young people and their families ample time to secure the required travel documents
and immunizations.
It is the belief of the Foundation that with positive motivation and experiences, "at risk"
youth of today will become the "role models for positive change" tomorrow!
This is an ongoing project
that needs the help and support of the Baltimore community. Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to the Royal
Circle Foundation, Inc. to support this project and others that the Foundation has undertaken. No amount is too small. Everything
helps us to help save our youth.
